MPTF Tackles Healthcare Challenges Facing Entertainment Community

Hosts First-Ever Industry-Specific Health Summit

Woodland Hills, CA, May 30, 2013 - MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund) today brought together the best and brightest thinkers around healthcare quality, evolving business models, and patient engagement at its first Entertainment Industry Healthcare Summit 2013: Exploring Opportunities in the Changing Environment, held today in Beverly Hills, CA.

"MPTF recognizes the challenges confronting all stakeholders in the entertainment industry around striking a balance between rising benefit costs and the desire to continue providing quality healthcare," said Bob Beitcher, MPTF CEO. "The care and cost models are shifting at a frantic pace. MPTF is catalyzing an industry discussion to begin shaping a viable future roadmap."

MPTF's more than 90 year commitment to the overall well-being of industry members coupled with its longtime role in providing coordinated primary care to the entertainment community through its 6 Los Angeles-based health centers and mobile Health Wheels van, positions it at the center of this vital dialogue.

"Bringing together this line-up of visionaries from the healthcare industry to lead us in a discussion that pertains specifically to the challenges we in the entertainment industry face will yield inspirational thinking," said Bob Pisano, Chairman of the MPTF Board of Directors. "All entertainment industry members, as well as employers throughout the community, stand to greatly benefit from what was discussed at this event."

The day-long Summit, funded by a private foundation grant, covered a number of timely and critical issues and featured keynotes from: Dr. Stephen Shortell, Dean of U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health on "A Vision for California's Healthcare System and Dan Wolterman, CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System on "Models of Healthcare in the 21st Century." Panel sessions included: Dr. David Feinberg, CEO, UCLA Health System moderating "Patient Centeredness 2.0"; Thomas M. Priselac, CEO, Cedars-Sinai Health System moderating "The Quality Imperative: Value over Volume"; and Martin A.
