Motion Picture & Television Fund Launches Emergency Assistance Travel Program for Members, Families
Delta Air Lines to support new program to assist industry members with travel in times of need
LOS ANGELES, September 18, 2015—Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) is joining forces with Delta Air Lines in a multi-year partnership that will further the charitable organization’s mission and well-being of the entertainment community.
“I can’t think of a better way for Delta to impact the lives of those working in the entertainment industry than to partner with MPTF to provide support in times of crisis and need,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation and Chairman of the MPTF Foundation. “Delta’s generous investment in the legacy of ‘caring for our own’ exemplifies their incredible support and dedication to the Hollywood community.”
Delta will support MPTF’s programs and resources for industry members in need, including its new Emergency Assistance Travel Program (EATP), which will provide flight vouchers to eligible industry members or their immediate families who have a family emergency or must undergo medical treatment in another city. The EATP is part of the MPTF Assistance Program, which last year alone provided more than $2 million in assistance to industry members based on their financial needs. Delta will also assist with event sponsorships and additional in-kind services.
“Our relationship with Delta adds another dimension to the ways MPTF serves the men and women in the entertainment industry,” explained Ken Scherer, CEO of MPTF Foundation. “We are very grateful to have a partnership with a sponsor that completely embraces our mission.”
The partnership builds on Delta’s support of MPTF over the past two years, which has included Presenting sponsorships of The Evening Before, The Night Before, Reel Stories, Real Lives and Hugh Jackman, One Night Only—preeminent Hollywood events which bring together the brightest stars from film and television to raise money and awareness to benefit the MPTF mission.
“Delta is enthusiastic about our enhanced commitment to MPTF with the creation of the new Emergency Assistance Travel Program,” said Ranjan Goswami, Delta Vice President – Sales, West. “We are proud to assist MPTF members with travel arrangements in their times of need. Delta is honored to align our own efforts to give back to the communities in which we live and serve with MPTF’s own mission, and we look forward to years of working alongside this generous organization, helping to make a difference.”
On September 19, Delta returns for the second consecutive year as a Presenting Sponsor of MPTF’s The Evening Before. The annual bash, which raised more than $2 million for MPTF last year, has become a favorite tradition for industry luminaries who gather to celebrate nominees before the Primetime Emmys®.
Delta is solidifying its position as the carrier of choice for Los Angeles’ entertainment and production communities with an expanded LAX network featuring more than 160 peak-day departures to 47 destinations, including added service to key industry destinations such as New York, London, Sydney, and Shanghai. Travelers enjoy a totally reimagined airport experience at the newly remodeled Terminal 5, including the airline’s first-ever private check-in lounge, Delta One at LAX.
For more than 90 years, MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund) has served as a beacon of hope for entertainment industry members in their time of need. As a charitable organization, MPTF provides financial assistance and services essential to the well-being of the community and is a leader in the development and implementation of services and programs for seniors and those who care for them. MPTF is supported by the generosity of corporate donors and fellow entertainment industry members who contribute their time and money because they believe in the critical importance of Hollywood Helping Hollywood.
