MPTF Resident Frank Fassnacht
Frank Fassnacht is a "gamechanger," one of those people who enters a community and brings the energy to innovate and inspire. Extremely active here at MPTF, he is always eager to get involved in a leadership capacity. Perhaps his largest feat thus far has been in revitalizing shuffleboard. The shuffleboard table originally came to MPTF in the 1940's but its following amongst residents gradually declined due to a lack of familiarity with the game. Now thanks to Frank, about 25 residents play the game every Saturday and compete in an annual tournament.
One can often find Frank on MPTF's Michael Douglas putting green, named in honor of "Michael Douglas and Friends" the longtime golf event benefitting MPTF. Turns out that Frank has been involved in every Heartbeat of Hollywood Classic golf tournament, even when he led the Mickey Mouse Golf Club at Disney, where he spent many years as a projectionist. His father, who was a CEO at Technicolor, inspired Frank's passion for film at an early age. Working at Technicolor and MGM in addition to Disney, Frank was given the opportunity to get to know some of the biggest movers and shakers in the film industry.
A loving husband and father of 12, grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 8, Frank is a family man. When Frank's wife came to Harry's Haven due to her struggle with Alzheimer's disease, he moved from the Palm Springs area to a cottage on campus to be close to her and to hear her say, "I love you," the three words he hears every day that he says keeps him going. Frank continues to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's. Last year the team captained by Frank at the San Fernando Valley Alzheimer's Walk was the highest grossing with the most walkers.
